Don’t make this journey alone …
Raising
a child/youth with Special Needs is a challenge that requires no less than all
your strength and heart. It can put a
strain on family relationships if communication is inadequate or
inappropriately done. Both parents and
the child/youth may feel bewildered, misunderstood and resentful. Over time, negative communication patterns can
become bad habits and vicious cycles that only serve to build higher walls and
greater frustration. Often, the child/youth who is unable to verbalise his/her
frustrations then begins to ‘act out’ in other negative ways.
You
and your child need not walk this path alone.
